Terms of service

1. Agreement

By using LiveVault — creating an account, uploading media, opening a secure link, or using the public demo — you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Beta status

LiveVault is pre-launch software provided free of charge. Features may change or be removed, and the service may be unavailable without notice. It has not been through a third-party security audit. Do not use it as the sole custodian of anything you cannot afford to lose or have exposed.

3. Accounts

• Sending requires an account. The first account created is approved automatically; every account after it stays pending until an existing approved admin allows it.
• You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything done through your account.
• Only one login session is active at a time. Signing in elsewhere ends the previous session.
• Accounts may be suspended or removed for breaching the acceptable use section below.

4. Acceptable use

You must not use LiveVault to store, send, or distribute:

• content that sexualises or endangers minors, which will be reported to the relevant authorities
• content you do not have the right to share
• material that is unlawful, that harasses or threatens a person, or that incites violence
• malware, or content designed to compromise a recipient's device
• content intended to deceive a recipient about who sent it or what it is

You must also not:

• attempt to bypass view limits, expiry deadlines, device restrictions, or session locks
• attempt to access links, sessions, or accounts that are not yours, including by guessing tokens
• probe, load-test, or attack the service, or circumvent rate limits, without written permission — note that good-faith vulnerability reports are welcome, see the Security page
• use the public demo endpoint as general file hosting or as an automated upload target

5. Your content

You keep all rights to what you upload. No ownership is claimed. A limited licence is granted solely to store, process, and transmit your content in order to operate the features you asked for — creating links, streaming media to a valid recipient, and deleting it on schedule. That licence ends when the content is deleted.

6. What is and is not guaranteed

What the service does

• enforces the view limit and expiry deadline you set, on the server
• deletes media from object storage after the purge deadline
• records viewer activity in an audit trail
• refuses to serve media outside a valid session

What the service does not guarantee

• It cannot prevent screenshots or screen recording. A web browser has no ability to block operating-system capture. LiveVault deters casual capture, reacts to suspicious behaviour, and logs it. That is not prevention, and it is not sold as prevention.
• It cannot stop a camera pointed at a screen.
• It cannot un-copy a copy. Once a recipient has captured content, expiry does not reach their copy.
• No uptime commitment. There is no service level agreement during beta.
• No backup guarantee. Media is deliberately deleted on expiry. Keep your own copy of anything you need to retain.

7. Deletion and termination

You may stop using the service at any time and request deletion of your account and links at owner@livevault.live. Access may be suspended or terminated for breaching these terms, and content may be removed where it is unlawful or endangers someone. Audit records may be retained after content deletion as described in the privacy policy.

8. Liability

The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or lost data arising from use of the service. Because the service is currently free, total liability is limited to zero. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

In particular, no liability is accepted for a recipient capturing, retaining, or redistributing content you chose to send them. The limits of what the software can enforce are set out in section 6 and on the Security page, and by using the service you confirm you have read them.

9. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. Material changes will be reflected here with a new date and noted in the changelog. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
